IPhone XS Camera Lens screen cracks

My new iPhone XS 64GB rear camera lens cover has started cracking under normal usage. Right from day one I have the phone in protective hard case and I am 100% certain that I have never dropped the phone or handled it badly and In fact have treated it with utmost care considering the steep price paid for it. @Apple this is definitely not physical damage and is clearly a case of faulty design. Kindly suggest what can be done to get this fixed/ replaced as your service center guys are not even looking at it in Bangalore India and say that it is a known issue as per complaints received from a lot of customers of this model and the previous IPhoneX. Surely it needs a recall and replaced for free. I have seen similar shape cracks of pictures posted online as well and need to see what best can be done.

The XS series camera lens cover projects slightly from the surrounding frame, and looking at your photo (it is not 100% clear) there appear to be two cracks radiating from an obvious chip at the left side. Two cracks, chipped, that is almost certainly damage caused by external force rather than a manufacturing defect so the decision would be non-warranty. You may not have noticed the event, but something happened to your phone.

Damage by external force is a very loosely used term considering Apple claims they use Sapphire Glass and charge a bomb for the XS.

Among the mechanical properties of Sapphire Glass, toughness is considered an important mechanical property for the protection of damage caused by external force.

I am certain I haven’t put my phone through that rough a deal to cause the lens to crack. Mine is only one case and there are 100s of people complaining about the same thing so there is a problem- manufacturing or quality defect. It’s unclear what is causing all these camera lens cracks, especially considering that the lens should be extra sturdy given that it’s made of sapphire crystal, rather than regular glass.

That said, it’s certainly annoying to discover that one of the main features of the iPhone XS is damaged, and not have an explanation or possibility to repair it is very disappointing.

The service center guys just check if you have apple care and if not just classify it as physical damage and ask you to pay ~Indian Rs70,000( USD 980) to get a replacement. This is terrible service especially after you have already paid USD 1480 for the phone.

Terribly disappointed and for the first time I feel cheated by Apple. Harsh words but true!
