Help with setting up a new Apple ID

Hi!

I’m trying to help my brother with a problem. He, his wife, and their two daughters have used the same Apple ID for years. Now that his daughters are older, they want them to have their own Apple IDs.

Their iPhones have never been backed up to the cloud, just on a computer. Is there a way to make a new Apple ID and not lose everything that is one the phone (contacts, pictures, etc.)? I know that they can access all of the music, apps, etc. that was purchased by having their parents add them on Family Sharing, but I’m trying to figure out if there is a way to save the other things on their phones

Thanks for your help!

There may be some data loss, but you can minimize it. If syncing photos with iCloud, ensure Optimization is turned off in Settings/Your Name/iCloud/Photos and/or in Photos/Preferences/iCloud. Then make sure full resolution photos are on the device/computer. When signing out of iCloud, if asked whether you want to retain data, choose yes. Messages conversations will be lost if they are addressed to the ID. See the article below for other places that the old ID should be removed. Also set up Family Sharing to keep access to your apps/purchases. Also see Winston Churchill's response in the below discussion
