Logic Slowing down recording (not a sample rate issue)

ok so I spent 11 recording yesterday... drums guitars etc etc. saved the file at the end of the night and when I awoke to edit the recording some takes of some files have been slowed. NOT earthing. just random stuff.

  1. when I load this project ti says "loading files into memory". I've never in the last 8 years seen this before.
  2. all tracks (except drums) have a latency now. they ALL play off time.
  3. only SOME of the tracks are slowed and its not even the whole track but just certain comps. for instance guitar 1 chorus one plays great for the first half but where we punched in the 2nd have and I used the quick comp it all of the sudden slows down.
  4. NOTHiNG has changed on the sample rate side of things. I Recorded at 48k 24bit and I've checked the settings over and over and all is still the same.

im totally lost here and this is a paid project. If I have to have the band come back in and re-record its not only going to cost me allot of time and $$ but will definitely make me look bad and that's no good.

anyone dealt with this? I've been searching for 4 Hours now and can't seem to find anyone having this problem

thanks

What version of Logic are you using? I had a track in to mix a few months ago that played back fine... until I made a single edit or cut. Then the whole project got messed up timing-wise.

It turned out to be a bug in that particular version of Logic X with flex-time (that the tracking engineer had used before it was passed to me for mixing).

Luckily I had a couple of test rigs with different versions of Logic X and a later version fixed the issue. Sounds like a similar issue and maybe something here may help you. I can't remember the exact version of Logic X that had the issue though.

OK so then another questions. One thing I though about was that I had gone though and used flex time to clean up the drums before we got into recording guitars etc... the Flex time was still on the drums when we did guitars and such. again when I saved the file and re-opened it ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was changed... BUT would recording with flex time ON cause issued when recalling the session?

im on 10.4.4. I always keep my computer up to date and never (usually) have any issues.

NOW even more weird... so I opened a brand new project. imported (drag and drop) all the files form the files folder in the original project and rebuilt the entire song. eveything was good, lined up etc. etc. I continued to save the project under a new name and when I just now recalled it all the same problems came back... how's this possible???
