I click Turn On FileVault and nothing happens

Your administrator requires that you enable FileVault How can I bypass this? It is my machine MacBook Pro 2013, I think; cannot check it as I do not want to enable it not knowing the consequences :). I am not sure I did this or how, but I would not want to enable it, again about the side effects. Thank you

FileVault Doesn't Work On My Computer I'm trying to turn on FileVault on my computer, but I keep getting a window that says I can't use FileVault on my computer or with my operating system. I have a 2009 Mac Pro with 3.33 6-core processors (5,1) and I'm running the last version of Mojave, macOS X 14.6 with updates. I smell a conspiracy by Apple to render my Mac Pro obsolete so I will be forced to buy a new computer. Just kidding...or am I?

Please read Use FileVault to encrypt the startup disk on ... - Apple Support.

Follow Steps 1-4.

If nothing appears to happen, restart your Mac and try again.
If it still doesn't work, Contact Support.
