"Hide Extension" checkbox missing from Mojave Save As dialoge box

I recently upgraded to Mojave and I have noticed that the checkbox to show/hide the file extension in missing from the "Save As" dialogue box. I'm not sure if this is a bug or has been moved to a setting somewhere, but it's crippling my workflow to have to manually add the file extension when saving uncheck "hide extension" in the file info window in finder. By default Mojave isn't saving with file extensions, so it's a bit frustrating. This is happening OS-wide, every app is hiding the file extension by default. Is there a way to get the "hide extension" checkbox back, or to enable file extensions?

Edit:

Found a solution ;-) "Hide extension" option is in Mojave placed under pull-down in Save dialog toolbar.

Unfortunately, it will do no good to post a bug report or feedback to the macOS product team because they have that "not invented here" rejection mindset that justifies any change that they make, including something so keenly inane as removing a Save panel Accessory View check box and hiding it on an obscure menu that most users don't know exists.

I have an AppleScript that launches the dictation application, and then uses Speech Synthesizer to listen for an explicit command "Show Extension" that automatically invokes Finder to show the hidden extensions of selected files. When done, it quits dictation.
