Apple Support number ?

It's a scam.

Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams - Apple Support

It is just another scam number. Apple will never pop-up dialogs in any browser, or contact you via email for this nonsense. If you wife called them, gave them money, and the means to access her Mac, then nothing is sacred any longer on her Mac — including any personal, email contacts, and banking information. I would perform a clean installation of her Mac for complete peace of mind, and avoid the web site where this occurred.

Hopefully she did not call. Did she? If so you'll need to explain what happened next.

If not, then there is nothing else to do. Just forget about it.
