Thoughts on IPv6?

My ISP supports it. But I have to use the Actiontec T3200 as my main router. My ISP requires that the router supports DHCPv6-PD. Does anyone know if the latest generation of Time Capsule or AirPort Extreme supports this? I am assuming not because I am unable to get IPv6 addresses. Should I use my Actiontec T3200 as my main router and set up one AirPort as DHCP downstream of the Actiontec to only handle the routing for everything’s else? Will the configuration pass IPv6 adddesses down the network? I was also thinking about getting a Ubiquiti Security Gateway as my main router as it appears to handle IPv6. If I did this, would all the airport base station be set to bridge mode?

Thanks!

My main AirPort is connected directly to an unmanaged switch which is connected directly to the ONT. the switch is there to split off the IPTV service that Telus offers.

There should not be an unmanaged switch between the ONT and the AirPort. If you must have a switch in that location, then I would not expect the AirPort to function reliably or correctly.

This is my current setup: (hopefully this makes sense)

Telus ONT-

-switch unmanaged

-TELUS OptikTV PVR

-Airport Extreme

-rest of network for home

This setup is stable. OPtik TV works great. No glitching with picture. And the home network is stable. The only problem is IPv6 does not work. I’m not sure how critical this is at this point. What do you guys think?

I tried this setup:

Telus ONT

-Actiontec T3200 (DHCP Server)

-TELUS OPtik TV

-Airport Extreme - in bridge mode.

-rest of network

This setup was alright. Not as stable as first setup. And I was getting IPv6. I have all my bonjour proxy server devices set as Manual and Staic IPs and have reserved them in the ActionTec. (And the AirPort Extreme) Unfortunately I had to run out for a bit and had to put everything back together as the first setup. I had setup all the dhcp reservations in he ActionTec but the list reset itself. I’m going to try this again when I have more time. (I do have a full time job :) ) This looks like my most realistic setup. I would rather not use the ActionTec T3200 that was supplied by TELUS. Seems like a cheap router and the Apple Airports seem better. I could be wrong on this one though. Maybe it is a good router.....

Then I tried this:

Telus ONT

-Actiontec T3200 in bridge mode port 1

-TELUS OPtik TV

-AirPort Extreme DHCP Server connected to port 1 of ActionTec -

-rest of network

In this setup, IPv6 did not work.

You guys have been awesome in helping me out!
