Finding which photos in All Photos are assigned to other albums

The photos on my iPad and iPhone are a mess. Some are stored in the cloud and some are not. Some are stored in albums I created and some are not and just show in the All Photos album. Some are in multiple albums. I want to get things organized properly with all photos assigned to an appropriate album in the cloud. Is there a way to tell which photos in the All Photos album are also in other albums? Knowing that duplicates won’t be created, I could just go to the All Photos album and assign each photo to the album I want but I have a lot of photos. I’m hoping there is an easier way.

Thanks

How are you using iCloud? If your iPhone and iPad are using iCloud Photos, all photos will be stored in iCloud Photo Library. There would not be some photos, that are not in iCloud.

Or are you using Shared albums? Then you may have some photos in iCloud and others not. But do not use Shared albums to actually store your photos. use them only to share photos. When you add a photo to a share album, the size may be reduced, and and you cannot recover the full quality from shared photo albums.

This is only possible in Photos on a Mac. On a Mac you can use smart albums to find photos that are not in any albums, or run an Apple Script to find all albums a photo is in.

But Photos iOS does not support smart albums.
