Not sure what is going one I never have issues with my apple products but lately I can’tseem To keep my iPad or my iPhone working. My issue is I updated to 12.1.3 and after I did that my iPad Pro 12.9 (2018) shows a red 1 on the settings and I cant find anything that needs updating.
Do you have two factor authentication enabled on your iPad? It could be that. If you don't it's suggesting you do turn it on. This link will explain: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204915
If you have two factor authentication enabled, probably the easiest solution to remove the red dot is the following:
