photo books

What are other photo book alternatives have Apple users found? I was in the middle of creating photo books for both my kids when they dropped their service. I loved the old photo book option that Apple had... I tried Mimeo and it is frustrating to say the least. Motif doesn't convert any projects and has a 2.-something rating. HELP!!!

Is your version of Photos 2.0 or earlier and are you able to create a PDF file for that book?  If so there's a 3rd party book provider which used to do the printing for Apple, Mimeo, that will take PDF files created by iPhoto and Photos and print and bind books and calendars.

Also you can upload the PDF file to PrestoPhotos which can print and bind books and calendars from iPhoto or Photos pdf files.  They've been doing it for some time now.

Use the PrestoPhotos or Mimeo links above for direct access to the PDF file uploading and book/calendar ordering page for each site.

If you have a newer version of Photos then these are your options:   Post 9/30/2018 Printing Options for Photos.

Sorry I can't help. I have the same question. I loaded Mimeo and Motif into Photos (Mojave) and they seemed to work OK, but I haven't made a book yet. What I find really bad is there is no longer option to print the book to a local PDF file. In the new set-up, when you print and then make a pdf, it only makes a contact sheet with the photos you have chosen to be in the book. Also, the online services (shutterfly, mixbook etc.) do not offer to save the book as a pdf (even after you have paid to have the book printed).

That being said, mixbook works pretty well and the book quality was OK. But, the lack of a pdf option makes it the last time I'll use it.

I also read about blurb.com, which allows to save as a pdf but the software is not so great (but it allows a lot of tweaking, just not a lot of good template options based on the review I read).

Hope this helps.
