Remote disk doesn't mount.

I set my Mac to utilize a DVD drive on another mac on our network. Following Apple's directions at hthttps://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203973.

I can see the remote Mac just fine in the Remote Disc Finder sidebar window. I can see the "Audio CD" but when I double-click it to access it, I get an error message "The operation can't be completed because the original item for the "Audio CD" can't be found. "

What in the heck is going on.

Your hyperlink seems to be broken, but here is the relevant part of the article you were referring to:

DVD or CD sharing isn't designed for some kinds of optical media. Connect a compatible optical drive directly to your Mac if you need to use one of these discs:
• Audio CDs
• Blu-ray or DVD movies
• Copy protected discs (such as some game discs)
• Recordable CDs or DVDs that you want to burn or erase
• Microsoft Windows installation discs

Audio CDs are not supported for CD/DVD Sharing.

Remote Disc was primarily designed for installing software on MacBook Airs that didn't have a CD/DVD drive.

No. I just followed Apple's specific directions as noted in my original post. Nothing in the Sharing preferences mentions SMB or AFP. Very aggravating.

I instead of having this as traditional, simple system-to-system copy as Apple indicated, I have to take the CD's I own and physically possess and copy them to a Time Capsule drive from the 2008 iMac that has a built-in CD/DVD drive, then back to the newer iMac and import them into iTunes.
