Hi,

Tried to burn a music cd from Apple Music (from a playlist with apple lossless music) onto a remote disc. This disc drive is located on another IntelMac and is shown in the finder of my M1-Powerbook. However I cannot connect to it although the disc drive is shared, message in Finder of my M1: "waiting for disc drive". In Music "Burn settings" the following message is shown "No Supported Disc Burners Found".

Hi,

You cannot burn lossless music from Apple Music because of DRM.

Looking at Share DVDs and CDs on Mac - Apple Support I don't see any explicit indication that remote burning is supported. Apple tend not to point out limitations, but perhaps it is implied by omission. Has it worked in the past?

Perhaps you're only granted read access for the remote drive? Burning usually requires a high throughput of data and is perhaps better done from locally stored files than those located remotely.

Thanks both of you, however this is not the point: My remote disc is on a powerbook running iTunes (not Apple Music), macOS Sierra, the Mac without the disc is a Powerbook M1, running (Apple Music) ,macOS Monterey. On the last one I see in Finder the remote disc, but cannot connect (a CD is inserted on the remote disc) in Finder. In Apple Music (Powerbook M1) Burn settings, the message "No supported disc burners found". Both machines are on the some Network and the disc sharing is activated on the Powerbook with the disc drive. Furthermore, even off I try to burn AAC files, both from playlists or directly from the file itself, nothing happens. Frustrating ...

Hope my explanations are precise enough to locate the problem.

Hello,

Once again, this is not the point: in sharing the remote disc I did allow without explicit granting access. The other point is: I'm aware of some issues with remote discs and I do know of connection difficulties via WiFi. I'm not a newbie with Macs! However I am bit disappointed with apple giving advice about remote disc burning without pointing to possible difficulties. And yes, I did connect the 2 Macs with direct USB connection, and once again without success.
