There’s a hole inside the band slot on the top part of the watch where the band slides in. What is it for ?

Ah, now you clarified the question, that’s the air pressure vent to equalize pressure within the watch case.

If you watch the hole while pressing on the band release button I think it’s purpose will become obvious!

No you don’t know the hole I’m referring to. It’s clear what the other one does. I’m referring
to the one on far right in red circle.
