Dropped MacBook Air from a very short drop in backpack, loud fan for a week and I just made it stop??

So Thursday it dropped my macbook from bench about a foot and a half off the ground in a backpack (I've had a handful of small drops before that) and I guess this one just broke the straw off the camel's back. When I go to my dorm, I opened up my laptop to hear a loud and scary whirring noise. And my brother concluded that the fan was messed up. Due to some issues, I cannot take my laptop to the tech-hub at my campus, which is in the middle of farm country, mind you, so I will be forced to send it off to Applecare once I can spare an entire day making the bus commute to the nearest Apple. But, as I was using my laptop with the annoying loud fan, I decided to take my two fingers: thumb and index, and firmly pinch where the fan noise is coming from, and it has since stopped. Did I do something wrong? Or should I just carry on until the noise comes back? there is a faint clicking right now that you can barely hear. Overall what I am asking is: is my computer gonna like, explode at 2:30 in the morning?

I will take any suggestions.
