Using "Drag and drop" to move files in Mojave 10.14.2

It seems that you are clicking once to select, then immediately click, and that is being registered as a double-click - which opens the file.

You do not need to select first. You can click and drag.

You can change the speed required to do a double-click:

Go to System Preferences->Accessibility->Trackpad & Mouse, and drag the "Double-click" slider to the right. Experiment until you find a speed that works for you.

Check System Preferences > Accessibility > Mouse & Trackpad > Trackpad Options… It may be one of the Dragging options.

Are you pressing too hard. The new Trackpad has Force-touch which essentially makes 3 clicks possible, tapping, clicking, and force-clicking. If you turn on haptic feedback in the Trackpad prefs, you can feel the different clicks.

It's not working the same as always for me.

When I try to drag a file to another place, I highlight the file -- as always -- and drag it -- as always -- and the file opens up. So I'm looking at the picture or text file I am trying to move.

Not at all acceptable to me. But I can't find a thing about it, other than this thread, and I would not have known it because "Not sure what you are saying but Drag & Drop works the same..." is what I see in the search engine.

I'm sorry but I drag files all the time on both Mac laptops with the Trackpad or mice on Desktops. I don't know what the problem might be. Perhaps someone else will have an idea.
