Cintiq 21ux issues with Mac OS Sierra

Hello, guys.

I've been using my Cintiq 21ux (old generation) on my macbook pro 2017 with Sierra for quite sometime and it has always worked perfectly.

In the last few days I had upgraded to Mojave but had too many compatibility issues, not only with the Cintiq itself, but with a lot of other software and plugins I need. So, I downgraded back to Sierra and since then my Cintiq is not working properly.

I installed the same driver I did when I got the macbook. But this time, Cintiq tracks perfectly and recognizes clicking/pressure/tilt just fine, however, if I try to drag a window by clicking and dragging on the upper area of it, nothing happens. It even stops recognizing the clicks. The only way out of it is by clicking on the window with a mouse, as if it needed to be active again or something, then it gets back to normal.

This is happening with all softwares, including system windows like the system preferences panel.

Any ideas? Could it be some sort of issue on the installation of the OS? Should I reinstall it?

Thanks!

Im feeling very stupid, but the problem is solved.

I managed to do the recovery process but that was still in vain. It wasn't a system problem.

It was an accessibility problem. Just had to change the mouse/trackpad double click speed to the fastest possible.

I was searching for more issues with Wacom tablets and mac os Sierra, and apparently theres a common issue with unwanted double clicking and dragging. That, with a somewhat slow speed setting on double click, was causing the click to hold and not let go, therefore dragging or not doing anything at all.

Thank you very much Eric for all the thoughts on this.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

My Cintiq 21ux is a pretty old product, from the DTZ series, I believe. Im using the latest driver released for it but it goes a long way back in time. Unfortunately, it looks like they're only releasing driver updates for the DTK, DTH models. The only DTZ still supported is the 12wx one, apparently.

Im positive Im using the right driver for my model. Ive installed it many times before on Sierra and it worked just fine. What a letdown.

Hi, Eric!

Sorry for the late response.

I tried creating the new user and starting the mac with safe mode, but the issue persists.

One thing I noticed is that when I go to the Wacom Tablet preferences, in the System Preferences panel, while in Safe Mode, I get a message that says there is an issue with the driver.

I haven't been able to run Etrecheck so far, but I tried reinstalling mac os Sierra with the recovery mode (cmd R), wishing to repair whatever could be wrong with the system, but I can go through the installation. After a little while I get a pop up with "Internal server error". I thought this could be something with my router, I even changed the DNS settings as recommended, but it doesn't work - wifi nor cable. And the date is correct, I checked it within Terminal.

Thank you!

Yes, I have tried restarting the router a couple times, as well as unistalling and reinstalling the driver.

Haven't tried the recovery connected to a network other than mine though. I'll see if I can use another one.

Im almost going for a full erase and install... even though it's gonna take me ages to install all my software and plugins back again.

What is weird is that without the driver (when the pen tablet works just like a regular mouse) everything works: it tracks like a mouse, clicks, drags. Everything. When I install the driver, the tracking works like a tablet, but thats when the issues come up.
