Can't download the software because of a network problem

Trying to install home brew through the terminal on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. Keeps timing out and getting this error in the subject line as it tries to find the software.

I found a solve for this on a blog http://milesjordan.com/osx-command-line-developer-tools-cant-download-the-software-because-of-a-network-problem/#comment-10587

*BUT* there doesn't seem to be a command line tool package for my version of macOS.

Please help!

Solved, woohoo! Downloaded homebrew.

Here are the steps

First, updated the OS, then:

  1. uninstalled current version of xcode
  2. installed xcode 10.2 beta
  3. installed command lines tool for 10.14 macOS https://developer.apple.com/download/more/
  4. ran home brew installation from terminal again.

It comes down to looking for the versions of xcode and os command line tools that exist from the link above and then matching the xcode version the OS version on your machine.
