Missing iMessages/SMS with dual SIM with an eSIM and two appleIDs

Hi.

I moved into an Xs a couple weeks ago so I don't need to carry around 2 separate, diverse business and personal mobiles. Each had unique AppleIDs, which I've also moved into one AppleID.

Details:

Phone B = Business, SIM, (previous, 8, SE), AppleID X

Phone P = Personal, eSIM. (previous 5s), AppleID Y

AppleID = Y has been disabled and currently in process for delete (after downloading then deleting all data from Apple, great feature btw, thanks)

Phone Xs = B & P, SIM/eSIM, AppleID X.

Both B/P are with the same carrier/family plan.

Note:

Both AppleID's were part of Family Sharing, family members. Which I’ve removed AppleID Y.

AppleID X is the Organizer, and AppleID Y along with the wife and kids are part of the same family sharing plan.

Yes, awareness of the complications of having multiple AppleID's, kept them completely segmented until moving into the Xs.

Devices associated with AppleID Y have been wiped and reset.

Both AppleID’s until moving into the Xs, were also tied to iPads and Apple Watches.

Issue:

Been getting feedback of “didn’t you see my message” from the wife and kids. Even group messages all iMessage. Yesterday the wife showed me an iMessage that went to both me and my daughter, she got it, I didn’t. it was even the prime number she used. Another example wast this morning I responded to a txt message I got yesterday (non iMessage) and it failed. Tapped resend and it went though with a note on top “Number Changed” which is currently set to my primary number.

This morning I re-reviewed https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209044 on Using Dual SIM with an eSIM and I didn’t have “Cellular Datahttps://support.apple.com/en-us/HT209044

Settings – AppleID – Name, Phone Numbers, Email: Yesterday I made sure Reachable at on the Xs included phone B and P. P was not.

Settings – Phone: Made sure both B/P have wifi calling enabled and the Primary (Phone P) has “Add Wi-Fi calling for Other Devices) enabled. Secondary (Phone B) doesn’t have that option

Settings – Messages – iMessage & FaceTime Line: I’ve toggled between Phone B/P with the same results. Currently Phone P is checked (which used to be tied to Phone B’s AppleID X) – Note message under Primary/Secondary lines “Messages & FaceTime will use selected phone numbers as your ID. Only one can be registered in iMessage. Your second number wont’ be iMessage capable” . SMS/MSS have both Phone B/P allowed.

Possible bug w/resolution:

When an incoming iMessage hits the Phone which ISN’T selected for iMessage, it should resent as SMS- it doesn’t consistently. note observed when on my home WiFi .

Possible resolution is to allow both P/B to be associated with a single AppleID in Messages Settings on the same device. For example, when I had the same AppleID X being used for an iPhone8 and iPad Pro both with cellular modems and their own phone numbers.

Thanks

iPhone XS
