smbdelete files Using Office 365

This question is very well documented here: https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/340690/osx-file-sharing-permission-problems.

No one has answered since October, and my office is losing productively and I'm close to just plain losing it.

To sum up, I am using a brand new Mac Mini upgraded with all of the top specs (Over $3k worth of a MM). I did this to support running a file server for my company. After the upgrade, I started having all kinds of file permission issues (probably thanks to the denigration of MACOS). I have resolved all of them except this one:

When an Office365 is opened from the server, is edited, and then saved back to the server, an error is generated stating "Microsoft Word (or Excel) needs access to the file named '.smbdelete...". It then will not grant you access to the file, and since it has renamed the file to a "SMBDelete..." file, the old filename is no longer shown either.

Both the Mac Mini we are using as the file server and all other machines are running the exact same version of Mojave (the most recent version - 10.14.3).

Please read the post in the link for a more thorough description of the issue, and please APPLE - help!

They have basically killed server 6 months or so ago. My business relied on Mac servers as they were super cheap and ultra reliable and I actually talked to someone from the Server division in California about the decision to cancel OSX Server. After an hour long conversation I understand from a business standpoint why they did it. (Basically the cloud and it's not needed anymore to push Apple into the business realm) However it still leaves myself and most of my clients in a lurch and needing to spend $ we otherwise wouldn't.

That being said, what I am experiencing is my users get that error if the document is saved twice without closing it. The first save works fine. The second one throws the error. Any chance you can train people to close a document after saving and then reopen it until the issue is resolved? Or is it happening on the first save after opening?

In my opinion this is not just a clients' issue. Using a windows-based SMB server instead, the same client with the same MacOS and Word 365 versions does not have problems with repeated saving. So Apple's server solution itself seems to be a major part of the problem.

Shouldn't SMB be a "standard" working irrespective of the server's operation system? Microsoft tells me it's Apple's fault and Apple just seems to wait (or even blame Microsoft instead) ...

Please find a solution quickly as our whole company's data storage concept is based on Apple clients and servers and our daily work is deeply affected by this issue since months.
