Installing Windows on Mojave without Boot Camp

I started off by downloading the official Windows 10 ISO file from Windows website. Grabbed a new flash drive, opened up BootCamp, selected the ISO file and continued with the installation. Everything seemed fine until we got to the Partition section. I selected 100GB of my 1TB HD to use designated for Windows. Hit continue on the installation and got an error during the partition process.

"Disk could not be partitioned"

Spent hours browsing forums.

I tried the SMC, NVRAM reset.

Ran First Aid on my disk.

Made a backup and restored my Mac to factory settings.

Tried to partition in Disk Utility.

Tried to partition while in recovery mode.

Tried some terminal commands.

Nothing.

I couldn't get my disk to partition in BootCamp or Disk Utility.

I read somewhere about how the APFS drives are a hassle with BootCamp, or how BootCamp is broken on Mac OS Mojave. I erased and reinstalled Mac OS Mojave twice.

What worked for me.

I formatted my HD for the last time (APFS) and before I installed Mac OS Mojave, I created a partition as EX-Fat for 250GB. Now I had 750GB for Mac OS (APFS) and 250GB for Windows (Ex-Fat). Installed Mac OS Mojave, opened BootCamp again and the same situation happened. So this time I restarted my MacBook Pro with the USB drive I had the Windows 10 ISO extracted to and held down "option" key. I saw the USB as EFI Boot. I clicked on that and finally saw the windows logo on my laptop for the first time in over 18 hours of nonstop troubleshooting. I continued with the Windows installation until I got to the point it asked to pick what disk I wanted to install to. I saw the Windows and Mac partitions, as well as a few more random ones. I tried to click the Windows disk and it gave me an error saying Windows can only be installed on a NTFS Drive. So I formatted it from the windows option list and tadaaaaaaaaaaa, it let me continue with the installation. Now I can boot into Windows and Mac.

Hopefully this helps someone. If you can explain this better please do. I am not a technician, just the go to tech family member.
