I can not change the time and date on my mac even going through the steps suggested

My mac is stuck on the date Dec 31, 2017. I have tried the way it says online to change it, however nothing is working and I can not go past this date. Suggestions?

If the Support Topic doesn't help:

Launch Terminal from your Utilities folder and at the prompt copy & paste:

sudo date 0201052019

The format is MM/dd/hh/mm/yyyy

You will need to adjust the hh and mm (hour and minute) to the correct time

Press Return

You will get a brief lecture about sudo and it will ask for your Admin password. The password will be invisible. Enter the password and press Return.
