Finder preview size is too small sinc the latest upgrades to High Sierra and Mojave

I am using an iMac Pro with Mojave. When using finder in column view the preview of the file takes up only ONLY HALF of the available space in the preview pane. I am sure that with versions prior to Sierra the image of the file would nearly fill the entire preview panel. I know I can change the size of the image by dragging the corner of the finder window, but that is not solution, as increasing the size of the window, even up to full monitor size still leaves the image of the file at half the available space vertically.

Can anyone advise how to make the image larger?

I agree. I can get back to the page I want by hitting space-bar and then scrolling.

I look at a lot of PDFs in the finder window before moving them around. With Sierra the image was sufficiently large that I didn't need the several extra steps of pressing the space bar and then scrolling. I really hope there is some tweak I could do to have the preview image at the old Sierra size.

The new size in Mojave is around one-quarter of the size in Sierra, (comparing like-for-like in full screen with same resolution).
