VIDEO FRAMES WERE DROPPED DURING PLAYBACK

Hello, I was wondering if someone could shed some light on my issue

I am currently running the latest version of final cut pro x on a 15inch mb pro - 2.2 i7 16gb RAM 256gb ssd.

When working on any project whether its based on the internal hardrive or external video frames drop

Additionally this can be any length of project from 4 seconds to 4 minutes

I have tried mutiple external hardrives to rule out a faulty external and made sure all software is still up to date ( running latest version of mojave & final cut pro x) to see if the issue still arises but nothing seems to fix it.

Furthermore I have made sure that all import settings ensure that playback is running as efficiently as can be- optimized media etc.

Could it be an issue with the actual hardware ?

Are you using external HDD drives or external SSD drives? (HDD = Spinning disk | SSD = Flash storage)

HDD are too slow for editing off of. I also had this problem, but I found a solution.

I first created a new library on the computer disk (Not external),

then moved the project I was currently working on to this library.

Then I edited from the computers disk, and exported to the HDD.

Then when I was finished editing and exporting I moved the project back into the other library on the HDD.

I can provide more detailed instructions if you need them...
