trim support external thunderbolt ssd (Mojave)

I was under the (mis?)impression that under Mojave, TRIM was supported for external SSDs connected via Thunderbolt.

I have a 2015 27" iMac running 10.14.3, with a Thunderbolt 2 enclosure with a Samsung 850 EVO SSD. System report says that TRIM is NOT supported.

Is there something I need to do to turn on TRIM on the external SSD?

Enabling TRIM on multiple SSD in system? Probably a simple question. If I have more than one SSD in my system do I need to enable TRIM on each one individually, or is that something you enable on a system-wide basis? If you do have to do it individually, how do you do that? Here's the info I found in an older thread. But, it doesn't specify per drive anywhere. To enable TRIM, first save all your open documents as this will reboot your Mac. 1) launch Terminal. 2) Type "sudo trimforce enable". 3) Confirm that you want to enable trim. 4) Reboot your Mac. This question is regarding a mid-2010 MacBook Pro running macOS High Sierra. However, I also have two drives in a late-2012 Mac Mini.

Slow external SSD Bought a Crucial 1TB SSD along with a caddy to use as a back up drive for my files on my iMac. First few Gigabytes was really fast in transferring but then it started to get slower and slower to the point where the speed was like a traditional HDD. I know about enabling TRIM support from my older mac a few years ago. Could my problem with the slow SSD be related to no TRIM support?

This should work. In macOS Terminal enter the following command:

sudo trimforce enable

It will prompt for a password (must be administrator to do this) and it

should enable TRIM on all third party drives.

Note that this will not work on USB devices.
