I have an iPad 6th gen with a very loose volume button and I am concerned as it is just brand new. Is there anything that can be done about this? I’ve also encounter tons of problems with it and I’m starting to believe that it may be defective. Is there anything that can be done? Sometimes the volume doesn’t work and it shuts of randomly sometimes.

Schedule an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar. They'll take a look at it and if they agree it's not right, they'll replace it. While you are past the 14 day return for full refund time period, you have a one year warranty against manufacturing defects.

If you bought the iPad within the last 14 days, I would suggest returning it for a new one.
I believe this may be a manufacturing problem.
