Can I store file to iCloud without saving it on my Mac?

Hi

I have MacBook Pro every time I upload files to iCloud it also save it on my Mac, I have 512 GB on my and I don’t want to use all of it only for file storage


is there a way to store file on cloud without saving copy on Mac or limit the size of file that will be stored on my Mac

You can turn on the Optimize Storage option under >System Preferences>iCloud>iCloud Drive [Options]>Optimize Mac Storage. That option dynamically manages your locally stored iCloud Drive files, and if you are running low on space, will remove the oldest ones from your Mac and store them only on iCloud.
