iPhone End calls when moved away from ear

My phone automatically ends my call when I move it away from my ear. For instance when on a call and moving my phone down from my ear to go to speakerphone, my call is automatically ended. Or by lowering my phone to verify a name or number dialed, it hangs up the call.

When you move your iPhone close to your ear the screen's touch sensor goes off. As soon as you take it away from ear. The sensor comes to life.

This has been done to protect accidental activation of several features available during a call.

If you happen to keep it slightly away from you ear, the proximity sensor does not put off the touch sensor. If you happen to move it at that point when the touch sensor is on and your hand accidentally touches the end option, obviously it will end the call.
