Need an online class in how to convert VCR tape to digital with imovie and then edit and burn a dvd

Hi - I have a huge project to do. Lots of family VCR tapes I want to convert and put on DVD disks. I have a VCR tape deck and a Sony Media Converter and I want to start the process using iMovie but I really have done very little with iMovie and need some kind of on-line class.

I also have never burned a movie to a disk so I can play it in my DVD player hooked to the TV. I've only burned as data that can only be played on the computer. Want to burn these so I can distribute them to the family and so they can play them on a DVD player.

Does anyone know of any classes I can take on line? (I am willing to pay a fee). Thanks!

HI,

There are numerous tutorial videos that you can get on You Tube that will show you how to convert an analog VCR tape to digital.

Open You Tube and type in "convert VCR tape to digital" and you will get lots of hits. You will need a VCR machine to play the tape, a digital converter, to plug the VCR in to, and the correct cable to connect the converter to your computer. Mp4 is the best format for the movie because the quality is good and it is very compatible with a wide range of devices.

Thanks --- I pretty much have the conversion process down, but need a tutorial on how to do stuff in iMovie and how to burn a DVD. I'd really like a comprehensive class if I could find one.

Sorry, I live nowhere near an apple store. I need an online class. I am willing to pay tuition. Does anyone know of one?

Contact an Apple store near you and get their schedule of classes.

Apple no longer sells iDVD, the DVD authoring program, so you might not be able to get a class on that. However, the process is pretty universal. Create a movie in iMovie. Share it out to your desktop as a standalone movie. Drag the movie into the import window or project window of a DVD authoring program, such as Toast or an old version of iDVD. Follow the instructions of the program to burn the DVD. You would need a DVD burner and a DVD-R disc.
