Migrating from a "PROBLEM" iMac to a brand new iMac ... ?
I have a brand new 2017 i7 iMac on my desk, next to my old 2017 i5 iMac ... that has become a nightmare. (I'm starting to edit video so I wanted to upgrade the processor anyway.)
I've done everything that I've read about to "fix"it. Except reinstalling the OS, which I would have, if I hadn't also been having issues with Time Machine. I finally bought CleanMyMac out of desperation ... but it didn't help, although yes, it sure cleaned up gigs of "stuff." It clean out so much stuff Photoshop wouldn't open and it removed Adobe Creative Cloud, that is needed to control my Adobe applications.
When I restarted the iMac the first time after this massive clean-up, it wouldn't Start ... showing me the Circle with Line Through it. I had to start it in Safe Mode and then use Utility > Repair on it. Now it seems better but still sometimes bogs down.
So how do I Safely Migrate to my new iMac, so I don't inherit any problems? I don't know where the problems lie, although CleanMyMac did apparently clean out some left over Norton, etc. files. Thanks ...
