Unable to connect CANON AirPrint device to MB Air (MacOS Mojave)

I’m having trouble connecting my AirPrint ready, newly bought CANON PIXMA TS8250 to my (also newly bought) MacBook Air, running MacOS Mojave.


Both, printer and MacBook are connected to the same Wifi network. I can also see the printer, when I search for it under System Preferences > Printers & Scanners. However, I can not see it at all times (e.g. not when the printer is in stand by mode).


The real issue is connecting to it, though. When I try to connect via AirPrint or Secure AirPrint, the process will get stuck and eventually abort. I get an error message, telling me that configuring the printer was not possible. So far, neither Canon nur Apple Support were able to come up with a solution. All other Apple devices print flawlessly. All of them run on iOS.


My question is: what do I have to do to make both devices talk to each other properly?


I’m at wit’s end here and appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!

I am going to offer a guess based upon what I ran into a few weeks ago.

Just like you I could not print. When I configure a printer within the printer pane I never choose AirPrint or secure AirPrint. I always choose the proper name of the printer and never AUTOmatic. But...this time I was at wits end until my grandson the next day decided to print from the iPad and it worked. So I changed the Mac config to AirPrint and it worked.


In your case AirPrint does not work so I'd try a non AirPrint config and see if that works. Heck , you never know.


Oh, the reason I set up printer config is a call based on An Epson support person who said that if you don't see the UTILTY in that printer pane then you don't have the most advanced printer driver.


So the above example I gave will not show the Utility tab because it will be AirPrint or secure AirPrint.
