Printer not connecting/communicating

I've had a Canon TS6150 for a few years. I've never had an issue with it until now - all of a sudden it stopped responding to my sending printing jobs. I tried to fix it in various ways:

  • Disconnecting the printer from wifi and reconnecting it
  • Disconnecting my Mac from wifi and reconnecting it
  • unplugging the printer at the back of it
  • unplugging the printer at the wall
  • resetting the wifi router

I then tried getting rid of it from my mac's printer list and reconnecting it, which is where I am now stuck: I go to add it, my Mac can find it, but then when I try to 'Add' it, I get the message:

"Unable to connect to ‘Canon TS6100 series._ipps._tcp.local.’ due to an error. Would you still like to create the printer?"

If I click 'Continue', I eventually get the message that my Mac can't communicate with the printer. It should be working, because both are connected to the same wifi network, but I can't seem to get it to connect. I've tried both Secure AirPrint and normal AirPrint, and I'm at a loss. if anyone's had this issue before and fixed it, advice would be appreciated.
