HELP, the date on my pictures changed.

Hi,

I just realized that when I moved my pictures from my iPhone to my macbook (app Pictures) and then to a extern disc the date on the pictures changed. Now all of my pictures on my extern disc have the date for the move and not the date when the picture is taken.

Does anyone know how I will get the right date back? The pictures are only at my extern disc and not on the computer or pictures.

When you export photos from Photos, you will create new files, and the new files will have a new file creation date. But you should still be able to see the original capture date, if you import the photos to a photo application. The capture date remains embedded in the file and any photo application that understands EXIF tags will show you the correct capture date. If you upgrade the Mac to Mojave, you can see the capture date in the Finder, if you are viewing the photos in column view.
