iMessage not showing read receipts

So I recently had the issue where I wasn’t able to see if the person I had messaged had read my message or not although they have it turned on for me it doesn’t allow me to see it it only says if the message is delivered, I have tried turning iMessage on and off and so has the other person, anyother suggestions?

imessage not showing read iMessage shows delivered but not read once the message is read. Earlier i could see read next to the message when it was read, but now it just says delivered even after the person replied. fix?

"Read Receipts" turned on but messages only show "Delivered" despite having been read My wife is experiencing an intermittent issue with iMessages on her iPhone 11: she has "Send Read Receipts" turned on, but messages that I and others send her still show as "Delivered" even after she's read them and replied. We've tried rebooting her phone and turning "Send Read Receipts" off and back on again, but the issue persists (intermittently). Has anyone else experienced this? How is this possible? What could be causing this? Thanks! Chris

Perhaps the other person is lying to you about read receipts...

It works on my iPad not my iPhone though...
