Is there a desktop weather app by Apple?

Your iPhone weather app does not run on macOS, so your options are:

1. System Preferences : Extensions : Today : √ Weather. Then click the hamburger icon in the upper right corner of your menu bar, and when it opens, Click the Today tab.
2. Look for a suitably star-rated weather application in the Mac App Store
3. Find a weather web site that works for your zip code, and bookmark it, and then drag/drop to your Desktop as a .webloc document. Then you double-click that, and the weather site will open in your browser.

Personally, I like WeatherBug on my Mac and my iPhone.

WeatherBug has a very nice macOS menu bar icon so I can just look at my menu bar and see the temp

And on my iPhone WeatherBug has a very nice Widgit so that I can get the weather from my lock screen

In addition to what VikingOSX suggests, there's the http://forecast.io web page, which uses the same back-end as the iOS Darksky app. There are other options.

Safari 12.0.3 says it cannot find the server at the link you provided, but darksky.net works.

The notification weather widget drives me nuts. It never seems to refresh the weather info on a consistent basis. At least on Mojave.

Of course, that is why I chose that weather location. 😎 So does ZKO, and many more of that employer's locations around the country. Does the URC acronym remind you of anything?

LJO2, LKG2 and ZKO3 were my 3 work locations while I worked for that employer. My Wife was PKO, whatever Hudson, MA was, and ZK.

But URC does not speak to me.
