"Videos" has worked without problem under iOS 11.
After updating yesterday to 12.1 Videos now crashes immediately after launching.
Not resolved by iPad reset.
? Should "Videos" app be gone, to be replaced by “Apple TV” app ?
“Apple TV” is not to be found on the iPad or in App Store list of Apple Built-in apps.
Help?!

The new video app for iOS is simply called “TV”.
Have no clue how you updated to just iOS 12.1.
Apple is now up to iOS 12.1.4, now.
Have you tried a hard reset of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons?
So, in sum:
after updating iPad Air to iOS 12.1.4 (in Iceland) "Videos" app fails immediately after launching.
With no prior warning from the software supplier.
The reputedly replacement app "TV" is nowhere to be found.
I do not expect to lose functionality with a software update.
Stop screwing me around, software supplier!
Apple is not screwing you around. The fact you don't have the TV app and you have the Video app is more likely nothing more than a naming convention in Iceland and other countries. You have an issue with the Video app on your iPad. This may or may not have something to do with the iOS 12.1.4 udpate or perhaps the Video app is simply experiencing issues there. Either way, you should do as MichelPM suggested and reach out to Apple. I haven't seen other posters with the same issue, so I'm sure Apple would like to know about your issue and I'm sure they'll offer possible solutions.
The reason I asked is my research has found that while the Videos App was renamed to TV in the US, it was not renamed in some other countries. Thus you won’t have the TV app in Iceland.

Are you in the US or another country. In the US at least (perhaps other countries didn't get this) when iOS 10.2 was released, the Video app was replaced with the TV app.

I’m in "another country" – Iceland in fact.
Tried – in desperation – Settings / General / Reset Home Screen Layout
in the hope that Videos app would thereby vanish and TV app miraculously appear.
No such luck ...
