Can't restart after update

Hi. Has anyone run into problems with rebooting or powering on since the new update? I am on Mac Pro (later 2013). Since the 10.14.3 update my system won't reboot properly. If I select restart, I get the chime but then my monitors stay black and one of them says no signal. I have had to power off for 20 secs or even pull the plug before I can power back on. I have tried zapping nvram but not sure it made any difference.

Thanks

Mac Pro, 10.14

Try an SMC reset:

Try starting up in Safe Mode:

If neither of those work boot into Recovery and Reinstall Mac OS.

About macOS Recovery - Apple Support

Try Single User Mode (hold command-s keys)

At the prompt, enter this command:

/sbin/fsck -fy

Press the Return key.

This will check your directory and report that it was OK or repaired. Then enter this command to startup normally:

reboot

The only problem I have is that waking from sleep it takes minutes for anything to appear on the screen. My Apple watch indicates that the MP is unlock fast after moving mouse to wake the MP but it takes minutes for anything to appear on the screen. However, this problem started before the last update.

Thanks. yeah I already tried that. Also ran the supplemental update last night. The frustrating thing right now is that I almost always run time machine before updating this Mac so that if the update is bad I can roll back. yup forgot to run time machine so now I am stuck and my last time machine was from months ago so lots of other apps have been installed since then. Ugh.
