Malicious "Hacker" Called posing as APPLE (Caller ID also said APPLE) saying my iCloud has been compromised-being used in Russia

Terrorists# 800-100-9009

Possible victims: anyone who has an active iCloud account.

Got the call around 5:30. I answered the call bc it actually said Apple on my caller ID. Then there was a recording that said my iCloud account was compromised & honestly I forget what but recording seemed very serious especially as I'm "seeing" this call is coming from Apple.

Guy got on, who had a middle eastern accent, and wanted to verify my name, but also went over my email address which is also my Apple ID. Said my iCloud was being used in Russia and another country and have I traveled outside the US etc. Told him that Russia began calling my number a few months ago and I get several calls from them a month. And **** no I didn't pick up. Has this been happening to anyone else btw? He said get on my computer and asked if I had chrome & I said that's where I just opened up the new tab-what do you want me to do. (Point here-he was notably excited about the chrome part...As if this might not work on Safari?!)

#1 www.helpme.net/ (which then goes to www.fastsupport.com) and you're to put in your name and a code of which dude gave me (see Screen shot included-Only thing I altered was my last name, with a quick red smudge)

#2 After clicking Enter you then are routed to Logmein.com which is actually not "logmein" (I pasted the whole url in the 2nd screenshot attached) He wanted to know what was happening. It says that downloading should begin but did not. Click to restart download. I did and then began to ask him a couple questions...And NO, I did not download this thing. Cancelled. Good thing it didn't download itself.

#3 All signs pointed to THIS IS NOT APPLE. As many would have already questioned. Accept that my caller ID said APPLE. Plus I've been hacked & most of this is unsolved. I asked his name, and also what number he was calling from.

He had trouble telling me the #:

Star *69 didn't work.

which he said was "Apples umm support # umm and...." So while talking I opened a new tab to google this magical number & thanks to US, The Apple community, quickly spotted what is an outdated apple thread with the number: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8507403

Weird and clever that this link, also on first pg google result, says number is LEGIT: http://www.numberreviews.com/phone-number/apple

#4 His name is allegedly "John Williams" with and Apple Badge#BC110035.

So everyone beware of this, and also opening up your personal hotspot on your iPhone. I saw mine was on and who knows for how long?! Pretty sure I'm in the clear other than clearing cache/cookies from those sites, yes?

Lastly, how did they mask the number?!

Hope this helps and that APPLE sees this as this "scam" has been going on over a yr and this number is still in service and looks like it's used for more than targetting just Apple users.

While looking into my caller ID in iPhone, noticed a number from Russia there;

but did not return the call. In fact I blocked the number (saved in Blocked #s)

and that ignores calls from the same number.

You can change your AppleID password &/or other important numbers, if you

believe you've given away passwords to places where scams could harvest.

These scammers use 'fear-factor' to get sheeple to run from clap of the hands.

Adware and other browser issues are more likely to be a source of issues if you

do not pay attention to those and how to avoid problems. Malwarebytes for mac

and Etrecheck (from makers sites) can help determine & remove several bads.

There never is a reason to assume messages/email with 'Apple' in it, is from them.

Unless you have contacted Apple, Inc -&- then you'd initiate a reply directly back.

I'd never go on a false trail to cure a non-existent problem, without quality research.

But then I am a skeptic. Verify 'fact' by honest sources ~ Apple support is good source.
