Issue with aol account in mail

Hi,


I'm on Mac OS High Sierra version 10.13.6


Since few days I have problems with my AOL account in the mail application both on my MAC and my iOS devices. It does not accept the password and stays offline. If I access ma AOL account via web-browser or using the Dispatch app on iOS it works fine.


Any idea?

I've had this problem also. I installed "bird of thunder" and it was able to connect to AOL out of the box. When I tried to go to my Mac account it balked. Ding ding ding - I have 2 factor authorization turned on for the Mac account. I checked the server settings in "bird of thunder" for the AOL account and found it was using OAuth2 Microsoftese for 2 factor authorization. I found the instructions on turning 2 factor on for AOL here:

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.


Enter the part after the @sign in the search bar.


You may have duplicate or more entries in Keychain Access.


If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but an older stored one most likely.
