Apple TV Snow static screen

Hi. So i want my Apple TV 2 to play with surround sound. However, as soon as i turn on the Onkyo receiver the snowy static screen comes up and it’s unusable. But as soon as i turn off the receiver it works perfectly. I tried different hdmi cables but it still glitches and gives static as soon as the receiver is on. I also tried different outputs to no avail. Advice please ?

Apple TV HD Briefly Drops connection to Receiver while changing programs Since a recent software update my Apple TV HD briefly drops the connection to the receiver whenever it is changing between programs or starting up a program coming out of the screen saver. The TV screen goes black for an instant and the receiver complains it has no signal, but the signal immediately returns and the Apple TV moves on. This does not prevent me from playing what I want. It is just annoying having the screen flash constantly and unnecessarily. Does anyone else have this issue? Thanks.

Apple TV 4k airplay speaker sound disappears after a few seconds Hi I use the menu option below to select my Bowers & Wilkins Zeplin (first generation) speaker. Sounds work perfectly for 5 sec and then the sound disappears. The speaker is still connected. What am I doing wrong?

Which model Onkyo receiver? Is it designed for HDMI passthrough?

Does it have an HDMI ARC port? That one should used between the TV and the receiver.
