Ethernet port not working - Mac Mini - Mojave

I have never tried to use the Ethernet port on my late 2012 Mac Mini, until recently. When I plug in an ethernet cable, it does not register, and just shows a "Not Connected" message.

  • The Ethernet card is Broadcom 57766-A1
  • The system information shows no issues with the Ethernet card
  • The ethernet cable clicks in the port snugly, and seems to have no physical issues
  • I have tested the router and ethernet cable with other computers, and they work fine
  • This does not seem to be the "Incompatible Kernel Extension Configuration Data" issue, which I have seen reported on other forums

Thanks for any help

Try starting to Internet Recovery. That uses the firmware only to start and run. That will rule out software problem. Make sure you turn off wifi when in Internet Recovery. You may have to turn off your wifi router

Shift-Option-⌘-R

Install the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available.
