Screen record a separate desktop space
I tried searching for a solution to this, but I need to have the ability to separately record one of the desktop spaces so that I can go preform other tasks without it showing up in the recording.

As far as I am aware this isn’t possible as screen recording software doesn’t recognize virtual desktops. I’ve recorded an application window in a separate desktop space but the results were far from optimal/unusable with unacceptable glitching, artifacts, low frame rates, etc.
Your best bet is to use a second monitor or use iPad as a second monitor to record the extended Mac desktop. To use iPad as a second monitor you’ll need to use an app such as Duet on both your iPad and Mac connected via cable.
You can use QuickTime player or a third-party app such as OBS to screen record. If using QuickTime Player to screen record you’ll want to create a second desktop space on your primary monitor to launch QuickTime Player from since QuickTime Player will dim the display when screen recording. If using the iPad as a second monitor with QuickTime Player you also have the option of making a movie recording.
If you want to record system sound with your screen recording you’ll need to use a virtual audio device using an app like Rogue Amoeba’s Loopback or a utility like Soundflower. Loopback has sound monitoring built-in but if using Soundflower you’ll either need to use Soundflowerbed or create a multi-output device in Audio MIDI Setup.
