ipad pro 12.9in. Overheating

Bought my ipad 2 weeks ago. I use it mostly for studying. Have played hearthstone and used other apps, which runs fine without any problems regarding to heat. However, the "Notability" app seems to be both draining my battery at a faster rate, while also causing significant heating to the point where it becomes uncomfortable to rest my palm. The heat is most severe on the opposite side of the apple pencil attachment point.

Any suggestions on how to procceed?

If the app is causing this, I'd stop using it and choose another drawing app. If the iPad was overheating while in any app, it would be something I'd schedule an appointment at the Apple Store Genius Bar of evaluation. But for one app, which is not really that processor intensive to cause unusual heat would lead me to believe it's app specific and I wouldn't use the app.

Any app that needs constant onscreen touch input is going to heat up an iPad.

Especially true of hardware/software resource intense apps, like games and resource intense apps like drawing/sketching/painting and writing apps with either constant finger or stylus input.

I think you are going to find no difference with the heat generation with another new iPad Pro.

As long as the heat doesn’t get to the point of too hot to touch, the iPad Pro is probably fine.

Just out of curiosity, are you using a case with your iPad Pro and what kind of case is it?

My iPad Pro 11 inch does the same and I’m using good notes, I just got it about a week ago and it heats up using that app as well as the procreate app. I tried running it on Netflix and youtube and it did get warm but not as much as it does. I’m going to go back and get it swapped out again it’s the second replacement I get within 2 weeks
