hidden file in file app

Hello,

I tried to transfer .mkv film from Mac to Ipad using Airdrop. After that I can not see this film in the file app, but when I go to data storage on the Ipad it shows me 9 gb used. Could you please explain, how to delete this film now ?

Hi antons49,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I see you have a question about locating a file you sent by AirDrop.

To clarify, where in your storage reporting are you seeing the 9 GB? Under which category does it appear?

Do you use a specific app to play .mkv files on your iPad? If so, try tapping Settings > General > iPad Storage, and then tap the listing for that app. You may have the option to delete the app-specific data from here.

I hope this helps get you started.

Cheers.

Hello antons49,

We appreciate the reply. Deleting the Files app would remove any data associated with the app from your device. You mentioned all of the iCloud Drive folders on the iCloud website were empty. Have you been using iCloud Drive previously, or any third-party sync services, with the Files app? Use the Files app on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Before deleting the app, I recommend double-checking the suggestions in the article above to make sure there are no sync settings that need adjustment. If you do decide to reinstall Files, be sure to make a backup beforehand: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Kind regards.
