Random windows sound?!
I had my IPhone 8plus on vibrate, and received a text form a friend. Instead of my custom text tone playing, a random windows sound played!

I understand from your post that you heard a sound other than your alert tone for your messages. I recommend checking to make sure the tone from that contact and message alert is still set to your liking:
