Jaybird x2 Wont connect properly to my phone

I have a pair of Jaybird headphones and I cant get it to sync with my Iphone 6S plus. I have charged it and followed the Bluetooth sync instructions and I appears on the list of devices but with I try to connect the headphones stop blinking and the Iphone it still connecting but then says that they are no longer on or close enough after a few seconds when the headphones are sitting right next to them. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Ive tried resetting the iphone, turning the headphones and bluetooth on and off again let me know if this has happened to anyone.
