Chrome recently cannot connect to the internet.

(website) didn’t send any data.

With Safari or internet there is no problem.

I found another anomaly. I finally ran my laptop while on a different network. My home network is AT&T, I ran it on a public WiFi and everything worked perfectly. I am including EtreCheck for my home network in case someone can point out something.

I agree if two other browsers work and a third doesn't, you go for the third. But if the third one states explicitly It's not the browser and it is hard coded, I tend to believe the browser.

So, I run Google again.

Google starts by attempting to get a secure connection, but it times out.

This is the response from the Google Chrome Browser.

This site can’t be reached
books.google.com took too long to respond.Try:
Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall
ERR_TIMED_OUT

The links for "Checking the proxy and the firewall" are likely a Mac problem, since Google has no settings for that.

I also don't have a proxy.

If I click on the proxy firewall link, this shows up below"

Allow Chrome to access the network in your firewall or antivirus settings.
If it is already listed as a program allowed to access the network, try removing it from the list and adding it again.

The auto Google response leads me to believe it is a Mac problem.

Since I allow it, in Preferences - Firewall, to receive incoming communication, what else can it be.

I solved my problem. I decided to call up AT&T since it was definitely something to do with my router. We went through all sorts of things, and I finally suggested I had a T-Mobile phone amplifier on my router. He suggested I disconnect it. I wasn't able to connect any better, so I re-booted and all of my Google https problems disappeared. It wasn't Apple.

If it is "a Mac problem" as you seem to believe, then it is likely to be caused by your "anti-virus" program... which isn't a Mac problem, it's a consequence of using whatever junk you're using. Rule 1 of Macs is don't install junk.

Merely disabling such things is usually insufficient. If you expect your Mac to work properly, it has to be uninstalled according to its instructions... assuming those instructions actually work, and they often don't.

Thanks for the help.

About the SmithMicro stuff. I think its an artifact. I had Internet Cleaning, but that wasn't allowed at some point. I can find nothing.

Thanks for connectivity-diag app. It didn't give any better clue.

However It did give me an idea. Https connections.

I have tested that a few times since realizing that and it's pretty much the problem.

About eset. It's antivirus.

I finally had a chance to talk with T-Mobile about the cell-spot. They said the AT&T speeds via speediest.net were very low.

6 mbps for download and 0.6 mbps for upload. This probably was the reason. I have the basic internet so uhmm go figure.

I also looked at what I'd pay for unlimited and that's $30 more per month.

T-Mobile said they had another amplifier that would work if I really had signal, but I don't - so...

On a side note, I realized I'm also having problems with Dropbox for the same T-Mobile reason.

End of conversation I guess
