Summary window for my iPhone does not display in iTunes on my PowerBook

I plug in my iPhone into my PowerBook. In iTunes I see the iPhone listed in the left pane as a device, with sub-categories of Music, Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, Books, Audiobooks, and Tones. But there is no Summary option, which I want to use to do a backup. How do I display the Summary screen?

iTunes 12.8.2.3 no summary displayed for iOS devices I have an iPad Air and an iPhone 7, both on 12.4.1. When connecting to iTunes, I no longer have a summary and sync option, rather iTunes only displays a list of the content on each device. I don't subscribe to Apple Music, my Mac is on Sierra 10.12.6 (I have some software that won't work on more recent versions of OS X), and all I want to do is swap out some of the movies and TV shows before I get on a cross country flight tomorrow. None of the articles I've seen so far are helpful, so how do I get the ability to sync back?

Not seeing "Summary" when I connect my iPad to iTunes I would like to load a fresh copy of IOS via iTunes. I've read this article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204204 that tells me I should see a "Summary" button after hooking up my iPad. All I see is the various media categories. Running Mac OS Mojave and iTunes 12.9, so it's the latest stuff. What am I doing wrong?

backing up to pc i don't have summary in my menu when i open itunes and connect phone

It worked by switching the cable from one USB port on my MacBook Pro to the other USB port. Don't know why.

The last PowerBook was made by Apple in 2006.

Therefore, if you have a PowerBook, it is too old to communicate to an iOS 12 device.
