Cannot Make a TimeMachine Backup, "DirtyJetsamMemoryLimit"

Whenever I try to make a Time Machine backup of my Macbook Pro on an external harddrive I get the following message:

Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to “My Passport”.

Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.

I have already tried completely erasing the drive using Drisk Utility and restarting my computer several times, did not work.

Whenever I attemp a backup the following message shows up in console:

(com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent): Unknown key for integer: _DirtyJetsamMemoryLimit

MacBook Pro 13", 10.14

Please confirm the disk is formatted according to Time Machine's requirements: GUID partition map and Mac OS Extended (Journaled) formats. Encryption is your choice but I recommend it.

Read Back up your files with Time Machine on Mac - Apple Support and Types of disks you can use with Time Machine on Mac. If you still have trouble, please read Time Machine troubleshooting on Mac. It's possible the disk simply is no longer working properly and needs to be replaced.
