Playing audio file in pdf file

Hi,

I am trying to play short audio files in a pdf (using adobe reader). Every time I click the sound icon itunes opens and plays the audio. This is very annoying because it blocks the view of the pdf file. I tried changing multimedia settings in adobe but to no avail. Whether I choose Flash or Quicktime, it just keeps playing in itunes.

I'm using El Capitan 10.11.6
