Install DriveDX to check if the hard drive might be failing.
Running the Apple Diagnostic might also detect a failing drive, but it isn't as reliable.
Thanks. Etre check would not install despite 6 attempts. The issue was resolved by reducing the file size of my 26 mages placed in the file. MacMini (late 2102) only can have 16 G RAM.
Get and run EtreCheck

THX. Issue resolved by going back to basics. reducing the size of all my paced images. Indesign runs better now. May be an issue with fact MacMini (late 2012) has weak video processing capability.
Keep in mind that InDesign also needs large chunks of free disk space. The beach-balling might be due to not having enough free space rather than not having enough RAM. The amount of RAM you have should be sufficient.
You really need to take IIIaass' advice. We don't have a clue how much memory your computer has, what kind of applications you are running besides, InDesign, or anything about the hard drive or SSD. Without this information we'd be guessing. It would also be helpful to know if you've been using InDesign without problems and the issue just started or if you've just started using InDesign.
issue resolved. MacMini is only set up to run with max 16G
